FAQ of Sandblasting

What is Sandblasting?
Sandblasting is traditionally a means of blasting sand or silica at a substrate (metal, glass, wood etc.) using compressed air. It is also a generic term for media blasting which is the same only using alternative to sand such as garnet, soda, plastic, corn cob, walnut and much more. This process is used to remove surface containments i.e. paint, rust, mill scale or other stuck on containments and prepares the surface for a new coating.

Does Sandblasting warp my delicate or rare parts?
Not if done by an experienced knowledgeable facility. Certain types of media such as steel or other metal blasting media creates a lot of heat when projected at a part which unevenly heats the part causing warping. The correct media, pressure, nozzle size and distance to the part can insure that the part does not get warm enough to cause warping.

What media do you use?
We exclusively use garnet. It is natural ground stone that does not create a lot of heat allowing us to blast all types of metal and rare parts without leaving anything behind.
